Quilt Repair

Many quilts are damaged over time, either due to normal wear and tear, dogs and cats digging or chewing, and other types of damage.

After reviewing and discussing your quilt damage, a quote will be provided to you breaking down the pricing.

Prepping Your Materials

Preparing your quilt top

  • Pre-wash your fabric to avoid shrinkage.

  • Square up the Quilt Top, which means your corners are cut square at a 90 degree angle and your edges are cut straight.

  • Trim up all loose threads from the back and front of the quilt top. Loose threads can show through on light fabric if you do not trim them.

  • Press the top as flat as possible.

  • Work out any wavy borders.

Preparing Your Quilt Backing

  • At a minimum the backing should measure 4-5" larger than your measured quilt on EACH side. (i.e. if your quilt top measures 60" X 60" the backing should measure 68" X 68" at a minimum)

  • If pieced, please sew a larger than normal seam allowance (at least 1/2") and press the seam open. (cut off selvages)

  • Square up the backing, which means your corners are cut square at a 90 degree angle and your edges are cut straight.

Preparing Your Quilt Batting

  • If you are providing your own batting, please make sure it is, at a minimum, 3-4" larger than your measured quilt top on EACH side. (i.e. if your quilt top measures 60" X 60" your batting should measure 66" X 66" at a minimum)

Once your materials are finished being prepared you will need to mail them to me. For customers in the U.S. I do free return shipping once the project has been completed and is ready to be sent back to you.
